Questions for Authors Empty Questions for Authors

This was my question for Drew.

Dear Drew Karpyshyn. My name is Jacob and I am a big fan of you work and I have read many of your books. While reading your book Annihilation I was pleasantly surprised to meet the character Gnost-Dural and over the course of the book I became a big fan of him. But being the over analyzer that I am, I noticed that you directly confirmed him as using the forms Soresu, Ataru, Djem so, and Juyo. And it seemed implied that he was also a wielder of Niman. That is 5 of the 7 classical lightsaber forms. So my question to you is, does Gnost Dural know all 7 lightsaber forms? And if so, to what extent? Does he merely know those forms or has he mastered all the forms? Also, which form would you say he favors/is the most skilled with?

This was his answer.

I didn't create the character of Gnost-Dural; I just fleshed out the
character from the SWTOR online, so I can't consider myself an expert.

However, he is presented as being a keeper of the Jedi Archives, so I
always considered him a scholar with a wide range of knowledge about many
things, including various light saber forms. But I wouldn't consider him a
master of any one form, and he uses whatever seems appropriate to the
situation.

I Sent Drew a PM regarding Vitiate, here is what i asked.

Hello Mr. Karpshyn, i'm a huge fan of your work from Revan/KoTOR to Mass Effect related things. however one thing that caught my eye was the Revan novel and its central antagonist - The Sith Emperor. he is depicted as a highly powerful force user, an embodiment of the Dark side, comparable only to the greats like Sidious, Marka Ragnos and Darth Plagueis. Truly a force to be reckoned with, however i noticed that there was an emphasis placed on his mastery over the force and it's secrets, while he left the art of dueling alone as if he knew he didn't need to use a lightsaber because he had so much knowledge already, My question for you Mr. Karpshyn is whether The Emperor was created as a contrast to your famous Darth Bane character? In my eyes i believe that Bane was an absolute master of lightsaber combat and The Force, while The Sith Emperor was much more focused on ancient Sith Sorcery, Rituals and obviously he was more focused on the Force. would you place them both in the same category as duelists and force users?

Thank you for taking the time to read my Email, Mr Karpshyn, i really appreciate it. Thank you once again and have a good day.

This is what he responded.

Hi, Fated.

Thanks for the e-mail; it's always good to hear from someone who enjoys my
work.

I didn't actually create the Emperor's character; he was already part of
the SWTOR online story when I came onto the project, so I just sort of
worked with what was there.

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

Drew.

lol gotta love Drew.
